Merry Christmas! Meet My Latest Painting “Aurora Twilight”
Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! I want to share my latest painting with you. In the past, I’ve shared some of my art work and even filmed this video on how art helps me with my mental health.
Alt text: Watercolor painting by Jessica Gimeno features dancing Northern Lights in the night sky (blue, neon green, magenta purple). There are lots of white stars. In the foreground: snowy mountains with some brown and black trees. A lake that reflects the colors in the night sky: blue, green, yellow. Date on bottom right says “12/09/24.” I haven’t taken a picture with my artwork in years–not since I was in college. But I wanted to share a collage of Aurora Twilight with a picture of me and some of my tools–my paint brushes. As you can see, I use a lot of brushes whenever I make a painting. I’ve never seen the Northern Lights but since 2018, it’s been my favorite subject to paint.
Alt text: Top picture is my painting “Aurora Twilight” featuring the Northern Lights–blue, neon green, and magenta purple colors dance in the night sky. In the foreground, there are snowy mountains with trees and a lake that reflects all the colors in the sky. Bottom left picture shows 15 paintbrushes and a few wells for water. Bottom right picture: Shows a woman (me) with long dark hair, dark eyes, pink lips smiling at the camera. She is wearing a purple shirt. The background is colored neon green, pink, and red.
Below, you can watch the video I did here called “Art and Mental Health: Part 1.” You can also see some of my previous paintings here or follow me on Instagram.

Between my full-time job (I work in public policy), finishing my last two semesters at Berkeley, and my weekly medical appointments (being a patient is a full-time job only I don’t get paid–I lose money), and (you know) the state of the world, it’s hard to keep blogging and vlogging. But I’ve managed to keep Fashionably ill ® ticking for 12 and a half years. I’m not going anywhere. Hang in there, everyone!
