Coping with Loss After Suicide-July 12 event at 6 pm
cw: grief, loss, suicide
I want to share this free event happening Monday, July 12 at 6 pm CST on Zoom from the organization LOSS (Loving Outreach to Suicide Survivors). The event is called, ‘Coping with Loss After a Suicide.” LOSS, which offers free services including support groups run by mental health professionals, helped me tremendously a few years ago after a friend’s death by suicide. They were a Godsend. Their logo, the lighthouse, is a perfect description of what they were to me. I am going to copy and past their invite below:
“Coping with Loss After Suicide
with Laraine Bodnar, LCPC
For those who have lost someone to suicide, the feelings can be overwhelming. The experience of trauma and grief can be crippling. We know there is no one right way to cope with a death by suicide as everyone’s relationship with the person who died is unique. The loss affects people differently and it can seem unmanageable. How do we cope? How do we survive? What tools can we gather to expand our coping skills toolbox so we can be active participants in the grieving process? Let us together explore some of the various strategies that survivors use to promote well-being and resilience.
