Started Filming the Pilot for Fashionably ill TV Show; Be Part of It

Last week, we started filming the pilot for my TV show–a show that if picked up would feature me giving makeovers to other people who like me have illnesses and disabilities.  I have given makeovers to women with illnesses in the past–see the before and after shot of Lou who has multiple sclerosis, PCOS, fibromyalgia, and diabetes.  But having a show would enable me to help far more people.  As it stands, I watch “free gift with purchase” specials and sales at beauty stores like a hawk.  I have a chest under my bed where I store makeup and hair supplies all year long.  But after I give a makeover, I need to start saving up supplies again.

Meet Megan!

The pilot we are filming is chronicling my makeover of a woman named Megan, who has just beaten stage four “incurable” breast cancer.”  She’s amazing.  She’s a fighter.  In my eyes, Megan is badder than Wonder Woman, Lara the Tomb Raider, and Olivia Pope put together.  (You can watch the video above of Megan talking after her latest CAT scans, which came out clean.)  So I’m putting together a look that shows just how bad ass she is.  The whole makeover is a celebration of life–the new life she’s been given and how she has overcome all the odds.  What makes this show different from most makeover shows is that I’ll be giving practical tips people watching can use at home–for example, if I’m making over someone tall, what brands make the best clothes for tall women?  If the person I’m making over has blonde hair and brown eyes (like Megan), what are the best eye shadow colors to use?  I also want to introduce people to brands for people with disabilities like ABL Denim.  Fashionably ill ®, as a TV show, would explore the themes of resilience, suffering, hope, and community against a backdrop of fashion.  I believe that fashion is art in motion.  We will finish filming in December.

Any Help is Appreciated

Please consider contributing!  (Everyone who contributes will be thanked in the credits of the video unless they don’t want to be mentioned.)  HERE is the GoFundMe page–please share my GoFundMe page on Facebook and other social media.

Thank you!

I would love to be part of the pilot and ongoing series of Fashionably ill. I am dealing with chronic pain due to scoliosis and have also survived two bouts of cancer. I live in Brooklyn, New York. Looking forward to hearing from you. Many thanks!
