Mascara Mashup #2: Reviews of Benefit, Clinique, Lancôme

I decided to write a lighter article since I’ve written a lot of heavy stuff lately.  So I’m reviewing three mascaras from Benefit (They’re Real!), Clinique (High Impact), and Lancôme (Hypnôse Doll Lashes).  Each of these mascaras appeal to different tastes whether you want drama or something more natural.  And I also include their prices.

#1  Benefit They’re Real! Mascara

Best Feature:  Wow! Factor.  This mascara creates dramatic lashes with a panoramic effect. Over the past two years, this mascara has become in instant classic.

Who benefits most?

  • Women with straight lashes who want more curl
  • Women with short lashes
  • Women with thin lashes.  This mascara makes lashes appear longer and thicker.
  • Women who want dramatic lashes–perfect for nighttime or big events like weddings. IMG_1214
  • Women with neuromuscular or coordination issues like me (on account of my neurological autoimmune disorder Myasthenia Gravis).  The large wand makes it easy to reach lashes, and is great for people new to makeup.

Price:  $23.00 or $10.00 at Sephora if you buy the deluxe size. (Note: if you don’t wear mascara daily, you can save money by buying the deluxe size.)

#2  Clinique High Impact Mascara

s711267-main-heroBest feature:  Affordability.  This is a great “best bang for your buck” mascara.  At $16.00, it’s cheaper than many department store brands.

Who benefits most?

  • Women on a budget.
  • Women who want more definition, which means it’s great if your lashes tend to clump together on most mascaras.
  • Women who want longer lashes.
  • Women who want subtle, more natural lashes.  It’s great for work and everyday use.

#3  Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Lashes

s1357664-main-heroBest feature:  This mascara is an attention getter that also looks natural.  My hairdresser swears by Lancôme’s mascara and uses it on all her clients, especially brides.

Who benefits most?

  • Women who want dramatic lashes.  This is perennial favorite among makeup junkies.  I first got this as a 100-pt prize at Sephora.
  • Women with straight lashes who want more curl.IMG_1518
  • Women who want something that can go from day to night easily.  It’s a versatile mascara great for women who don’t want to “look heavily made up.”
  • Women with short lashes.  This mascara creates a delicate doll-like look.  As you can see, the wand has a distinctive  pine tree shape.
